The evolution of print media can be traced as far back as 3500 BCE when the non-semitic tribes of Babylonia adopted wet clay tablets for inscribing. Less than 1000 years later, the Egyptians would bring us Papyrus scrolls, and in another 1000 years, the Romans would bless us with Codex (roman word for wood) print.

Real upgrades began to occur in or around the year 220 AD, when the Chinese would create the first forms of paper printing technology known as woodblock printing, and would continue to advance this technology with Bi Sheng inventing movable style printing in the year 1040. And then came Johannes Gutenberg who then invents the printing press in the 1400’s. As with all things technology, advancements occur at uncontrollable speeds and thus the newspaper was born. And thus we would go from using writing to pass down commandments and laws, to using it as a tool for read-bait, misinformation campaigns, funny headlines, and bizarre advertisements.

This article explores 19 of the weirdest headlines to be published. I hope you enjoy.
