Despite the dwindling viewership synonymous with the pandemic, media giant ABC, is pricing placement for a 30 second commercial at $2M. The 93rd Academy Awards would broadcast April 25, with Viola Davis, Chadwick Boseman, Daniel Kaluuya, and Lakeith Stanfield up for big awards. The pricing is on par with previous (non-pandemic) years. In fact, the Oscars generated about $129M in Ad revenue, in 2020.

Recent award shows have shown a decline in viewership, due to the shift virtual viewing inflicted upon by the COVID19 pandemic. CBS’ 2021 Grammy Awards had a viewership of 8.8M compared to 18.7M in 2020, while NBC’s Golden Globes had 6.9M compared to 18.4M in 2020.
