NFTs or non-fungible tokens are data bits residing on a blockchain, where every single token represents a unique digital item, thus preventing it from being interchangeable. NFTs are used to convert digital items such as art, music, videos, and video game elements, into commodities. Even though the digital files can be reproduced an infinite amount of times, the underlying blockchains on which they reside keep track of the NFTs which they represent and provide credibility and proof of ownership.

So far millions of dollars worth of NFTs have been sold in 2021 alone. In fact, NFT trades are becoming so popular, that business magnate Mark Cuban recently launched lazy.com, an online marketplace for NFTs.

These are the 16 of the biggest NFT trades of 2021:

#1 — Beeple’s ‘The First 5,000 Days’

Sold for $69,346,250 and holds the record for highest sale of a non fungible token.

#2 — CryptoPunk #3100
